Tej Pratap hasn't come back to Patna after meeting Lalu in Ranchi: Family sources

RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav did not return to Patna as expected after meeting his father Lalu Prasad Yadav but left mid-way for an unknown destination, PTI reported quoting its sources.

PATNA: RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav did not return to Patna as expected after meeting his father Lalu Prasad Yadav in Ranchi but left mid-way for an unknown destination, PTI reported quoting its sources. Tej Pratap met Lalu on Saturday after filing for divorce citing "incompatibility" from Aishwarya Rai, whom he married six months ago. Tej Pratap met his father for over two hours at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi, where the RJD chief is lodged in custody in connection with fodder scam cases. He later checked in at a Bodh Gaya hotel Sunday night and left the hotel Monday afternoon, saying he was going to Patna, local MLA Kumar Sarvjeet told PTI. "I met Yadav, along with other party leaders, over dinner Sunday. He was looking exhausted. He bade us goodbye Monday, saying he was returning home. I have the knowledge of his movements only till his departure from the Royal Residency hotel," the MLA told news agency over phone. The mercurial elder son of Prasad and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, however, was yet to reach Patna, his family sources said. A day after meeting Lalu Yadav, Tej Pratap had told the media that his family has "forsaken" him and was supporting "outsiders" against their family member. "I stand by my decision and won't bend down. Father has said I should wait for him but I am not going to do that because I don't know when will he get the bail," the former Bihar health minister had said. "I cannot wait any longer as there's a conspiracy being hatched. The girl was at her home for the last two months and has the support of my family. "They should have backed me but chose to support the outsiders. This is injustice. All the members of my family --father, mother, sisters and brother-- are supporting her and have forsaken me, their own son," Yadav said. Tej Pratap is said to be fond of visiting places of pilgrimage like Vrindavan and Varanasi for spiritual solace and one of his grouses against his wife is that she has not been able to adjust to his way of life. He had recently spent a number of days in Vrindavan, where he was reportedly seen playing a flute with a peacock feather tied to his head in the midst of a herd of cows. Tej Pratap has also been dropping hints that he is not getting along well with younger brother Tejashwi, who has emerged as the party's de facto leader in their father's absence.
