'Another Atul Subhash': TCS Employee Hangs Self, Accusing Wife In Suicide Video

A Tata Consultancy Services employee recorded a video in which he accused his wife of harassing him. He said that there should be more awareness regarding men's struggles in the video.

A manager of a private IT firm died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, due to the alleged harassment by his wife. On February 24, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee Manav Sharma hanged himself.

According to India Today, the 25-year-old had recorded an emotional video in which he alleged that his wife was having an extramarital affair. In the video, he was seen crying with a noose around his neck, and he apologises to his parents and pleads for awareness of men's struggles, stating, "Please, someone should talk about men. They become very lonely."

According to News18, Sharma said that he had previously attempted suicide. “I have always been a quitter. I have attempted suicide multiple times," he said, showing his wrist marked with scars from past attempts.

The victim’s father, Narendra Sharma, lodged a police complaint, but no arrests have been made so far.

The incident has drawn comparisons to the recent suicide case of Bengaluru techie, Atul Subhash. People took to social media to share their thoughts on this incident. An X user @ShoneeKapoor wrote, “#OneMoreAtulSubhash Just lost another good man because of harassment by wife, in Agra”.

Narendra Sharma, a retired Air Force officer and resident of Defense Colony, said that his son worked in Mumbai and got married on January 30, 2024. While the initial days were peaceful, conflicts soon arose. According to Sharma, Manav's wife allegedly threatened him with false accusations and expressed a desire to live with her boyfriend.

On February 23, Manav and his wife returned from Mumbai. Later that day, when he dropped her off at her maternal home, he was allegedly threatened by her family. The next morning, he took his own life.

According to News18, Nikita Sharma, Manav Sharma’s wife, has spoken out, presenting her side of the story. She claimed that her past was being unfairly used against her and that after learning about it, Manav turned to alcohol, frequently becoming violent and argumentative.

She further stated that she informed her in-laws about his behaviour, but they dismissed her concerns, telling her to handle the situation on her own.

Nikita claimed to have saved Manav from suicide thrice. She said that she made one last attempt to help Manav by repeatedly calling her in-laws to check on him, but her calls went unanswered. After his final rites, she claimed, her in-laws threw her out, accusing her of being responsible for his death.
