Maharashtra Monsoon Session To Begin Today; SSR Case, Kangana Controversy, Covid-19 To Be Key Issues

The monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislative assembly begins today and it is likely that the growing row over the Sushant Singh Rajput Death case may dominate.

New Delhi: The monsoon session of the state legislature in Maharashtra begins today amid the continuing battle against Covid 19 outbreak, and the growing row over the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. For the ruling Shiv Sena government, the investigation of the actor’s death has stirred up a political turmoil that grows each day. A few days ago, the actress had shared a tweet in which she said she does not feel safe in the state and compared Mumbai to Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Raut then told her not to come back to the city and called her ‘Haramkhor Ladki’. She also said that Sanjay Raut is not ‘Maharashtra’ and that he cannot say that she cannot travel back there as she has the freedom to travel anywhere. The state government has already been under fire over its handling of Rajput's death cases. The family of the actor has accused the Mumbai Police of being callous and the case is now being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation. It is likely that the issue will find its way in the monsoon session. On Sunday Maharashtra was one of the five states, that registered the most number of new cases. For the assembly session, several safety measures are being used. According to an article by the Indian Express germicidal ultraviolet lights inside the Vidhan Bhavan and special disinfectant coating to maintain sterilisation for hours are some of the steps taken to ensure the safety of legislators. As was announced earlier all legislators also had to undergo Covid 19 testing before participating in the session.
