Srinagar Grenade Attack: 10 Injured, 1 Critical After Terrorists Lobbed Grenade At Lal Chowk Area
At least ten civilians were injured after militants lobbed a grenade on security forces at the busy Hari Singh High street near Lal Chowk area in Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon.
New Delhi: In a highy shocking incident, at least ten civilians were injured in a grenade attack at the busy Hari Singh High street near Lal Chowk area in Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon.
As per the early inputs, militants lobbed a grenade on security forces. The terrorists missed the target and the grenade reather fell on the roadside, due to which it exploded on the roadside, injuring at least ten civilians. One of them is found to be critical. There was a chaos and stampede-like situation in the area due to the grenade explosion on the roadside.
"The terrorists hurled a grenade at the security force personnel near Amira Kadal bridge, which exploded on the roadside," an officials said, adding that Tariq Ahmed was critically injured in the blast. Police has taken cognizance of the incident.
The civilians injured in the terrorist attack have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched. So far, no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Earlier, terrorists attacked the road safety team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Shopian district. A jawan identified as Ajay Kumar was injured in this incident, was soon rushed to the hospital for treatement.
The road safety team is the squad that is deployed to protect a road before the convoys pass. This squad is also known as the Road Opening Party.
