People With ‘Invader Mindset’ A Danger To India: RSS’s Dattatreya Hosabale Amid Aurangzeb Row

RSS General Secretary Hosabale warned of individuals with "invader mindset" posing a threat to India, criticising the glorification of rulers like Aurangzeb.

RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Sunday said that individuals with an “invader mindset” pose a threat to India. Speaking to reporters at the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha, the highest decision-making body of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Hosabale questioned the glorification of historical figures such as Mughal emperor Aurangzeb while asserting that icons like his brother Dara Shikoh, who promoted social harmony, remain overlooked.

“If there are people with an invader mentality, then they are a danger to the country,” he said, as quoted by The Times of India. He emphasised that India must align itself with those who embody its cultural ethos rather than those who stand against it.

Responding to queries about the controversy surrounding Aurangzeb’s grave in Maharashtra, Hosabale remarked that the Mughal ruler had been “made an icon” instead of his brother Dara Shikoh, who advocated for social harmony, as per TOI.

“People who went against the ethos of India were made icons,” he said while lauding figures like Rajput king Maharana Pratap for resisting Mughal emperor Akbar.

RSS On 4% Muslim Reservation In Karnataka

Amid the ongoing debate over the Karnataka government’s decision to provide a 4 per cent reservation for Muslims in government contracts, Hosabale reiterated that the Constitution does not permit religion-based quotas. He said such provisions contradict the principles laid out by Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

“Religion-based reservation is not accepted in the Constitution authored by Babasaheb Ambedkar. Anybody doing it is going against the architect of our Constitution,” he stated, as quoted by news agency PTI.

He further pointed out that past attempts by the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra governments to introduce similar reservations for Muslims were struck down by the High Courts and the Supreme Court.

“The courts have rejected provisions for such quotas,” he said, stressing that religion-based reservations were unconstitutional.

RSS On Political Involvement, Ayodhya Ram Mandir

Clarifying the RSS’ stance on political involvement, Hosabale stated that the organisation does not engage in daily political debates. “Those in politics can make statements about these things every day; it is their activity. The Sangh cannot comment on matters without an official draft or published stance,” he said, as per PTI.

Addressing the Ram Temple’s inauguration in Ayodhya last year, Hosabale dismissed suggestions that the RSS was claiming credit for the structure.

He said, “The Ram Temple in Ayodhya is not an RSS achievement, but a victory of society as a whole.”
