BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri Dodges Question On Parliament Fiasco, Ravi Kishan Points At Danish Ali's Conduct
While slamming his party and Lok Sabha colleague Ramesh Bidhuri for using unparliamentary language in the House, BJP's Ravi Kishan demanded a probe into BSP MP Danish Ali's behavior on the floor.
BJP MP Ravi Kishan on Sunday wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, slamming his party and Parliament colleague Ramesh Bidhuri, who abused and directed communal slurs against BSP MP Danish Ali in Lok Sabha. However, he said that Bidhuri was instigated by Ali's "heckling and disturbance" on the floor. "Bidhuri used the objectionable words due to continuous heckling and disturbance made by Shri Kunwar Ali and that's too in the heat of the arguments," Ravi Kishan wrote.
Ravi Kishan urged the speaker to "examine the unparliamentary act and use of words" by BSP legislator Danish Ali. "Although use of words by Shri Ramesh Bidhuri is quite inappropriate, unacceptable and not in the tune of highly standards of the Temple of Democracy. However, the circumstances which leads to outcome of such objectionable words used by Member of Parliament against another Member of the House needs to be revisited and examined [sic]," the letter read.
Ravi Kishan further alleged that this was not the first instance of such objectionable behaviour by Danish Ali. He said that the BSP MP had made personal and unparliamentary comments against him earlier. "I would like to draw your kind attention towards the habit and behaviour of heckling by Shri Kunwar Danish Ali during the discussion or participation of another Member of Parliament in House in the past. Twice he had used unparliamentary language against me. On 9.12. 2022 when I was tabling my Private Members Bill namely 'The Population Control Bill, 2019,' in the House, Shri Danish Ali tried to interrupt me and made personal remarks against me stating that the Member is introducing a Private Members Bill in the House although he is himself having 4 children [sic]," he wrote in his letter to Speaker Om Birla.
"Such short of behaviour is unacceptable and needs to be examined by your esteemed office. It is beyond any dispute that whatever the words used by Shri Ramesh Bidhuri against Shri Kunwar Danish Ali is unacceptable. However, the way the things are being manipulated and used for the political agenda and grabbing media attention by Shri Kunwar Danish Ali is objectionable," the letter read.
When asked about the controversy, BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Sunday said Speaker Om Birla is looking into the matter. "Speaker (Om Birla) is looking into that. I don't want to make any comment about it."
Last week, Opposition leaders lashed out at the BJP and Bidhuri for his communal remarks against Danish Ali in Lok Sabha on Thursday and demanded a privilege motion against him on Friday. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury wrote to Speaker Om Birla: "It's with a deep sense of pain and anguish that 1, as a senior Member of Parliament and Leader of the largest Opposition Party in the House, am compelled to, and in fact, feel it to be my bounden duty to impress upon you the need for taking stringent action as per the rules against Ramesh Bidhuri, MP for using brazenly abusive and unparliamentary words against a Member of a leading political party, Danish All, who also happens to be from the minority community."
NCP MP Supriya Sule and TMC MP Aparupa Poddar also wrote to the Secretary-General of the Lok Sabha, requesting that a privilege motion be initiated against the BJP MP.
