Ram Temple issue: 3-day Dharma Sansad begins at Prayagraj today after SC defers hearing on Ayodhya case

A day after the hearing on Ayodhya case in Supreme Court that was scheduled for Tuesday, January 29, got adjourned, all eyes shall be on the first Dharma Sansad being held at Prayagraj from Monday under the mentorship of Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati to finalize the future strategy for the construction of Ram temple.

New Delhi: A day after the hearing on Ayodhya case in Supreme Court that was scheduled for Tuesday, January 29, got adjourned, all eyes shall be on the first Dharma Sansad being held at Prayagraj from Monday under the mentorship of Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati to finalize the future strategy for the construction of Ram temple. The Sansad is expected to be attended by Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati, Swami Nishchalnand (Puri Peeth), besides other major saints from all across the country. The hearing on Ayodhya case in Supreme Court that was scheduled for Tuesday, January 29, has been adjourned. The case won't be taken up for hearing by the 5-judge constitution bench of the apex court due to the non-availability of Justice SA Bobde, following which sitting of the Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi stands cancelled, as per a notice issued by the Supreme Court registry. Now the case will be taken on another day. The Supreme Court had recently constituted a new 5-judge bench to hear the politically sensitive Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid land title dispute in Ayodhya on January 29. The five-judge bench was re-constituted on January 25, as Justice U U Lalit, who was a member of the original bench, had recused himself from hearing the matter. The importance of Dharma Sansad can be gauged from the expected presence of Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah and other senior party leaders in Prayagraj. VHP spokesperson Sharad Sharma said here on Sunday that Ram temple would be the main issue during the two-day Dharma Sansad, to be held at VHP’s camp in Sector 14 of Kumbh Mela Area in Prayagraj. “Top VHP leaders are likely to attend that meeting. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat along with other RSS functionaries are slated to attend the Dharma Sansad,” Sharma said. A senior BJP leader said that Shah could attend the Dharma Sansad as he was slated to visit Lucknow on January 30 to attend a meeting of the party’s booth committees in UP.
