Ram Temple Darshan: Duty Of Cops Extended Till Jan 25 Due To Heavy Rush Of Devotees

The duty of all the police personnel and officials deployed at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya from several districts has been extended.

Ram Temple Darhan: In view of the influx of devotees who arriving in Ayodya for darshan at the Ram Temple, the duty of all the police personnel and officials deployed from several districts, except the police allotted from the district of Meerut zone, has been extended till Thursday (January 25).  

"As per instructions, in view of the proposed arrival/tour program of various VIPs/distinguished dignitaries, including the Honourable Prime Minister, Government of India, on the occasion of the installation of the statue (Pran Pratishtha)/temple inauguration program of Shri Ram Lalla at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya district on 22.01.2024, peace/law and for arrangement duty, from the headquarters level till 23.01.2024, the allotted gazetted officers, non-gazetted police personnel, under training, except the police allotted from the districts of Meerut zone, from among the UT/MP and PAC forces, the remaining gazetted officers, non-gazetted police personnel, under training. The duty period of the RP/MP, SPC, and PAC forces is extended till 25.01.2024," UP Police said in its order.


Ram Temple Darshan: Duty Of Cops Extended Till Jan 25 Due To Heavy Rush Of Devotees

On the day after the consecration ceremony, around five lakh devotees visited the Ram temple complex on day one as it opened its doors to the public on Tuesday, a day after the consecration ceremony, news agency PTI reported, citing officials. The entry to the temple complex began at 6 am.

The crowd increased as the day progressed, and it became unmanageable in the afternoon as it opened its doors to the public. Ram Path, the main thoroughfare, was choked as devotees flooded the streets of the temple town.

The total footfall at the temple complex on day one was around 5 lakh, according to Director of Information (Uttar Pradesh government), Shishir, as reported by PTI. Till 8.30 pm, about 4 lakh people likely visited the temple, Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal told PTI, adding that the figure stood at around 2.5 lakh at 2 pm. The last entry of visitors was at 10 pm.
