‘Rs 12 Found In Temple Donation’: Priyanka Gandhi’s ‘Envelope’ Jibe At PM Modi In Rajasthan — WATCH

Rajasthan Election 2023: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi jibed at PM Narendra Modi in reference to a row wherein a Devnarayan temple priest claimed that PM Modi donated money in an envelope with Rs 21 in it.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi took a jibe at the Modi government and said that its sole focus is on remaining in power and not on public welfare. While addressing a public gathering in Sikrai of Rajasthan's Dausa district, the Congress general secretary targetted Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying, "PM Modi comes here (Rajasthan) and says – You vote in my name. Ask him ‍ Why - Is he going to leave the post of Prime Minister and become the Chief ‍ Minister of Rajasthan?"

She continued her attack by saying, "Saw on TV, I don't know if it is true, that the Prime Minister had gone to Devnarayan ji's temple with an envelope. When opened after 6 months, 21 rupees were found in it. This is what is happening in the country these days. Big announcements and various envelopes are being shown while standing on the stage, but when you open the envelopes after the elections end, nothing happens. Be careful of this politics. Be cautious."

The remarks are in reference to a row wherein a Devnarayan temple priest claimed that PM Modi donated money in an envelope with Rs 21 in it, however, videos of the incident showed that PM Modi did not use an envelope to put money in the temple's donation box.

Vadra in her attack on PM Modi said that a real leader looks at the present and future, and does not talk about the past again and again. She added that public welfare can only be achieved through politics that is based on service and compassion and people need to understand why the BJP raises religion and caste issues instead of talking about development, reported news agency PTI.

She then attacked PM Modi over his alleged relationships with industrialists and said, that the Centre is working for its "industrialist friends". The Congress leader said, "When they (BJP) were in power, how many schemes did they launch in Rajasthan? It's clear that the focus of Modi ji and the BJP is not on your well-being, but on remaining in power and strengthening themselves."

She added, "It has become their policy to take money out of poor people's pockets and give it to the big industrialists."

She urged the people of Rajasthan to bring the grand old party back to power. She asserted that her party is united in the state, PTI reported.

The Rajasthan assembly elections will be held on November 25 and votes will be counted on December 3.
