Railway Exam Protests: FIR Registered Against Six Teachers In Patna, Oppn Corners Govt

New Delhi: Bihar Police have registered an FIR against six teachers on charges of instigating the students post the controversy surrounding the results of tests conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board for the Non-Technical Popular Categories (RRB-NTPC).
The FIR has been registered against the six teachers, including Khan Sir, in Patna.
Meanwhile, Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) president and former MP Pappu Yadav has come out in support of the students and teachers.
Asserting the case against the teachers is “unfortunate”, Yadav said that he should be arrested before anyone else is arrested in connection with the matter.
“When you dare to file a case against teachers, why don't you do it on Pappu Yadav? If you fire a bullet then I will take the first bullet. I would suggest that you withdraw the case against the teachers,” he said.
The Jan Adhikar Party chief further said that he would take to the streets in protest if the FIR against the teachers is not withdrawn.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate also voiced her support for the students.
She said the manner in which the students were baton-charged, it seems to be a conspiracy against the youth.
“Around 1.5 crore youth filled up forms for D grade recruitment, but the appointment was not made. The notification came out in February 2019 and now there are talks of a change in the examination rules. The young generation is bearing the brunt of delayed exams,” Shrinate added.
The Congress leader further said that there was a promise of providing two crore jobs every year, but 14 crore jobs have been lost.
Accusing the government of not maintaining the promises made to the country’s youth, Shrinate said they want jobs, but the ruling dispensation is not giving any job assurance.
“The job of the government is to communicate and hold a dialogue. The government cannot stop anyone from agitating,” she said, adding the government’s “ego will be defeated”.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati also lashed out at the Uttar Pradesh and Bihar governments, holding them responsible for prevailing poverty and unemployment in the state.
“There has been a huge uproar in UP and Bihar during the first UPTET and now the RRB-NTPC results of the Railways. This is proof of the failures of the governments. Beating up poor youths and unemployed youths for protesting, playing with their future is totally unjustified,” the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister tweeted in Hindi.
“Due to the wrong policies of the government, poverty and unemployment have reached the peak. Government jobs and the facility of reservation in them have become secondary. In such a situation, it is unjust to not have the examination, even for a few government jobs for years. BJP has to change its narrow vision of selling pakoras to the youth,” she wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
The students staged a protest in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh alleging irregularities in RRB-NTPC stage 1 exam results.
The students also clashed with the police personnel during their protest, which gradually spread to other parts of the country.
The protests took place in Patna, Nawada, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Buxar and Bhojpur districts.
Several trains were cancelled due to the protests.
The angry protesters blocked the railway tracks, clashed with the security forces and damaged railway property at some places.
Accusing the authorities of playing with the students’ future, the protesters claimed that only one exam was mentioned in the RRB notification issued earlier in 2019.
The matter gained momentum after the examination results were declared on January 15.
The Ministry of Railways had issued a clarification stating the notification clearly mentioned that it was the second stage of the examination.
The first stage of the CBT exam was a common test for all the candidates.
