Punjab Assembly Election 2017 Dates: Single-phase polling on February 4; counting on March 11

New Delhi:  The Election Commission on Wednesday held a press briefing and announced dates of assembly elections which are going to take place in five states namely Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa.  The countings of all the 5 poll bound states will be done on March 11. Legislative Assembly elections will be held on February 4. The current ruling coalition is Shiromani Akali Dal - Bharatiya Janata Party alliance led by Parkash Singh Badal. Here is the schedule of assembly elections to Punjab as announced by the ECI a while ago. The election will be held in a single phase in the state with 117 constituencies.
  • The date of polling in Punjab is February 4, 2017.
  • The date of notification is January 11.
  • The last date for making nominations is January 18.
  • The completion of scrutiny of nominations will be on January 19.
  • The last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 21.
Notably, Navjot Singh Sidhu is to contest on Congress ticket from Amritsar East assembly constituency.
