New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed Central government for claiming that it has no record of farmers who have died during the agitation at Delhi's borders against three farm laws since 2020.
Alleging that the government has been looking at the issue from the prism of its "billionaire friends", the Congress general secretary said the BJP-led govt is constantly "insulting" the farmers, and it must repeal the legislations.
Taking to her official Twitter handle today, Priyanka said, "The BJP government said in Parliament that neither it made any effort to know farmers' opinion on the three black agriculture laws nor does it have any data on how many farmers have been martyred.
While sharing the post on the microblogging site, she used Hindi hashtag which translated to "Take back black farm laws".
Her remarks came after Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday told Parliament that the government has no record of farmers who have died during the agitation at Delhi's borders against three new farm laws since last year.
Thousands of Farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been protesting on the borders of Delhi since November last year against three agricultural laws. A group of 200 farmers from among the agitating farmers are now protesting at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi after getting special permission.
