Priyanka Gandhi At Rampur, 'Won't Let Navreet Singh's Sacrifice Go In Vain, Will Fight With The Farmers'

Congress Up East General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited Rampur and met the family of the farmer who lost his family during the tractor rally on Republic Day. Priyanka Gandhi said that Congress stands with farmers and they won't let Navreet's sacrifice go in vain.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi met the family members of Navreet Singh, a young farmer who lost his life after his tractor overturned during the Tractor march on Republic Day. While the postmortem reports suggest that Navreet Singh lost his life in the incident, his family and other opposition leaders have been claiming that he was shot by the police.

Priyanka Gandhi met the family members of the deceased and consoled them. Priyanka Gandhi also addressed the crowd gathered for the prayer meet for Navreet Singh and said, " We stand with the family of Navreet Singh's family. Your protest is justified and you are fighting for a true cause. It is wrong when those in power call your protest as Kahlistani or inspired by terrorists. We will not let Navreet Singh's sacrifice go in vain. We will fight till the end. Congress is concerned about you and it is sad to see people using your protest for political gains. Congress leaders will fight with you till government rolls back these Black Farm laws."

Priyanka Gandhi interacted with the locals of Rampur after meeting the family members of Navreet Singh. 

After the tractor rally on Republic Day, the Delhi Police shared a video in which it was seen that the tractor turns over in order to break the police barricade close to the ITO. Navreet Singh was buried below this tractor. According to the postmortem report, Navreet Singh died due to the accident.

Congress leaders have backed the Farmers' protest and supported the tractor rally which turned violent after a group of farmers refused to follow the decide routes and moved towards Red Fort. 

On Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had accused the government of “shattering” the country’s image globally after international celebrities started raising questions about the protest. Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Centre has “crushed basic rights of farmers” in the course of the ongoing demonstration.
