President Election: Droupadi Murmu To Visit Bihar On July 5 For Campaign, Will Meet CM Nitish Kumar

Bihar BJP state unit is preparing for Droupadi Murmu's welcome to Patna as senior leaders, including CM Nitish Kumar, will be present at the event for Droupadi Murmu's presidential campaign.

New Delhi: National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu is slated to visit Bihar's capital city Patna on July 5 in order to campaign for herself ahead of the presidential election scheduled to be held on July 18. During her visit, she will meet all senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders as well as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The NDA candidate has been continuously touring in states for the presidential poll campaign after being made the candidate for the post of President.

Bihar BJP state unit is preparing for Droupadi Murmu's welcome in full swing as all the senior leaders of BJP, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP), MLAs and MPs including Nitish Kumar, BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal, Ravi Shankar Prasad will be part of the program, news agency ANI reported citing sources.

Droupadi Murmu has visited many states, including Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, since her nomination. As per ANI sources, the NDA's presidential candidate is likely to visit more states in the coming days where she can meet MPs and MLAs.

Murmu visited Puducherry on Saturday to seek support from the legislators of the ruling AINRC-led coalition in the Union Territory. She met Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy and sought support for her candidature in the presidential election.

On Friday, Shiromani Akali Dal, a former ally of the BJP, announced that it will support NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu in the presidential elections.

The BJP-led NDA had declared Droupadi Murmu as the presidential candidate on June 21. Murmu dialed senior opposition leaders including Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, and Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to seek their support.

BJP chief JP Nadda also reached out to opposition leaders as he spoke to Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, National Conference patriarch Farooq Abdullah and former Prime Minister and JDS leader HD Deve Gowda.

Meanwhile, the NDA candidate has also got support from Biju Janta Dal as well as YSR Congress.

The elections for the President of India will take place on July 18 and the results will be out on July 21. The term of President Ram Nath Kovind concludes on July 24.
