President Droupadi Murmu Confers Padma Awards To Venkaiah Naidu, Mithun Chakraborty, Usha Uthup, Ram Naik

The President also conferred the Padma Bhushan award on renowned personalities like singer Usha Uthup and Bharatnatyam dancer Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam.

New Delhi: At a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday conferred Padma Awards upon several eminent personalities, honouring their contributions to various fields. Actor Mithun Chakraborty, singer Usha Uthup, former Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik, and industrialist Sitaram Jindal were conferred with the Padma Bhushan. Former vice president Venkaiah Naidu, renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam, and social worker Shri Bindeshwar Pathak , who was given the award posthumously, were conferred with the Padma Vibhushan. 

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, were present at the event, alongside other dignitaries, reported PTI.

President Murmu honoured folk dancer Narayanan E.P. with the prestigious Padma Shri award, recognising his outstanding contribution to the field of arts.

President bestowed Padma Shri upon Drona Bhuyan for his remarkable contributions to the arts.

Para-Swimmer Satendra Singh Lohia was honoured with Padma Shri for Remarkable Contributions to Sports.

Droupadi Murmu Honoured Tennis Player Rohan Bopanna with Padma Shri for Contributions to Sports.

Padma Shri was bestowed on Manohar Krishana Dole for Outstanding Contributions to Medicine.

President awarded Padma Shri to Ram Chet Chaudhary for Contributions to Science & Engineering.

The Padma Awards, esteemed as one of the highest civilian honors in India, are bestowed in three distinct categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. These awards recognise individuals' exceptional contributions across a diverse spectrum of disciplines and fields, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service.
