Hyderabad Temple Meat Row: CCTV Video Shows 'Culprit' Who Brought Mutton On Premises
A temple committee member had initially claimed that someone had thrown the meat near Shiva Linga idol in Jirra Hanuman Temple in Hyderabad which had caused distress among devotees.

Hours after tensions flared in the Tappachabutra area of Hyderabad after a piece of meat was discovered inside the Jirra Hanuman Temple, the Hyderabad Police swiftly intervened on Wednesday morning. After a thorough investigation, they clarified that the incident was unintentional and involved a cat carrying the meat into the temple premises.
The controversy began when priest at Lord Shiva Temple, located within the Hanuman Temple complex under Tappachabutra Police Station, found a piece of meat near Shiva Lingam during morning hours. The discovery led to protests and prompted immediate police action.
Senior police officials arrived at the scene to assess the situation and initiated an investigation. The meat, weighing approximately 250 grams, was seized and later identified as mutton. To determine the source of the meat, four police teams were formed to analyze CCTV footage from the vicinity.
During the investigation, footage from a CCTV camera near the temple revealed a cat carrying the piece of meat in its mouth and entering the temple premises. The video evidence conclusively showed that the cat had inadvertently placed the meat behind the Shiva Lingam, dispelling earlier suspicions of deliberate desecration.
Sharing the video, Hyderabad police took to X and said, "We urge everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation and not to use social media to provoke disharmony and cooperate with police to maintain peace."
