'Pradhan Mantri Chinese' Projects: Rahul's Swipe At PM Modi Over Chinese Firm's Adani Links

His remarks are the latest in the series allegations against BJP and PM Narendra Modi in the wake of a report by Hindenburg Research that alleged fraud and stock manipulation by the Adani Group.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said India’s critical infrastructure, including ports and airstrips owned by the Adani Group, are being controlled by China.

Taking to Twitter, Gandhi shared a photo of Gautam Adani with two Chinese nationals with the headline “Firm linked to Adani’s infrastructure projects owned by Chinese national”, and captioned it “Why are India’s critical ports, airstrips, railway tracks and electricity lines being built and controlled by a Chinese company”.

He further termed the firm, PMC Projects (India) Private Limited, as “Pradhan Mantri Chinese” Projects and wrote, “PMC Projects – ‘Pradhan Mantri Chinese’ Projects? Why are India’s critical ports, airstrips, railway tracks and electricity lines being built & controlled by a Chinese company?”

His remarks are the latest in the series allegations the Congress and its leader have laid on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the wake of a report by Hindenburg Research that alleged fraud and stock manipulation by the Adani Group.

The row has triggered a massive political slugfest between ruling BJP and the opposition parties, that led to several protests and repeated ruckus in the Parliament. The Opposition has also demand a probe by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into the Adani Group.

It is to be noted that Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as a Lok Sabha MP after he was sentenced to two years in prison by a Surat court in a 2019 criminal defamation case. This case was registered against Rahul Gandhi's comment on Modi surname. However, he has since obtained bail in the case.

The Surat district and sessions court will hear Rahul Gandhi's appeal against the conviction on April 13. On May 3, it will hear the plea on his sentencing.
