Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to the eligible farmer families.

New Delhi: In a new year gift to farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the tenth installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on January 1, the PMO said in a statement.

"In line with the continued commitment and resolve to empower grassroot level farmers, PM Narendra Modi will release the 10th instalment of financial benefit under PM-KISAN scheme on January 1, 2022, at 12:30 PM via video conferencing," the PMO said.

"This will enable the transfer of an amount of more than Rs. 20,000 crore to more than 10 crore beneficiary farmer families," the statement said.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to the eligible farmer families, payable in three equal installments of Rs 2,000.

The fund is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The scheme was announced in February 2019 in the Budget.

The government has so far transferred nine installments amounting around Rs 1.57 lakh crore to farmer families.

At the programme, PM Modi will also release equity grant of more than Rs 14 crore to about 351 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), which will benefit more than 1.24 lakh farmers. PM Modi will also interact with FPOs during the event.
