'Congress Politicising Parliament Security Breach': Piyush Goyal After Kharge Urges Rajya Sabha Be Adjourned
Piyush Goyal said the Rajya Sabha should convey a message that the strength of the country is beyond these incidents and therefore, the session should not be adjourned.
New Delhi: Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal accused the Congress of politicising the issue of security breach in Lok Sabha and said the Upper House of Parliament should convey a message that the strength of the country is above these incidents. His remarks came after Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue and urged that the Upper House of Parliament should be adjourned.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, the senior Congress leader said, “Due to lack of adequate information (on the security breach), the Lok Sabha was adjourned. Therefore, we request you, to kindly adjourn (the Rajya Sabha session). Let the Home Minister come and give more details.”

“The issue is very serious. This is not a question of just Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, this is about how two people were able to come inside despite such elaborate security and cause a security breach,” Kharge added.
Responding to his remarks, Goyal said the Congress was politicising the issue. Being a “House of Elders”, the Rajya Sabha should convey a message that the strength of the country is beyond these incidents and therefore, the session should continue, he said.
“I think Rajya Sabha is the House of Elders. We should give a message that this country is strength is above all this. House proceedings should continue...I think Congress is politicising it and this is not a good message for the country,” Piyush Goyal said.
It is to be noted that a major security breach was reported in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing Winter Session of the Parliament earlier in the day.
Unidentified people jumped down from the visitors’ gallery and hurled gas cannisters triggering a security scare in the House. Two people have been detained.
