Pakistan: PM Modi, Abhinandan Posters Come Up In Lawmaker Ayaz Sadiq's Constituency, Imran Govt Considers Treason Case Against Oppn Leader

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had said that "legs were shaking and forehead perspiring" at a meeting of Pakistan's top leaders, where Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi pleaded to release Wing Commander Abhinandan.

A few days ago, a Pakistan opposition lawmaker said that Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s “legs were shaking” when he told a meeting last year that India would attack if Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, shot down in a dogfight, was not returned. Now, The Pakistan government is mulling over registering a treason case against Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for making such remarks in the Abhinadan case. "Legs were shaking and forehead perspiring, and the foreign minister (Qureshi) told us, 'For God's sake, let him (Abhinandan Varthaman) go back now because India is attacking Pakistan at 9 PM in the night'," Mr Sadiq had said, recalling the meeting which was also attended by parliamentary leaders, including those from Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and PML-N, and added that "India was not planning to attack... They just wanted to kneel before India and send back Abhinandan." Responding to Sadiq's remarks, Pakistan Interior Minister Ejaz Shah said the government was pondering over registering a treason case as the police have received a number of complaints against him. He said those conforming to India should better go to Amritsar.

PM Modi, Abhinandan posters come up in Pakistan leader’s constituency

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has been receiving a lot of backlash after his remarks against the Pakistan government, posters featuring Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman came up in parts of Lahore on Saturday. The posters, which dubbed him as “traitor”, went viral on social media after first being spotted in the constituency of the former National Assembly speaker. In some of the posters, Sadiq’s face was morphed to resemble Varthaman. Portraying Sadiq in Abhinandan's getup, the posters read: "Mir Sadiq, Mir Jaffar… Ayaz Sadiq." The PML-N has strongly reacted to the move blaming the Pak Government. On February 26, 2019, IAF jets had bombed the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror camps in Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan to avenge the Pulwama terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel.
