The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Wednesday informed the Delhi High Court that it will seek transfer of all the matters related to alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate (UG) examination 2024 results to the Supreme Court.
Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta today informed the Delhi High Court bench of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna that the NTA will move a transfer petition before the Supreme Court to get all the cases trasfered and tagged for hearing.
Mehta said that following results of NEET-UG exams, several petitions have been filed acorss High Courts of the country and to ensure that there are no conflicting views, the NTA will request the Supreme Court to hear all such matters together.
SG Mehta told the high court that the petitions in the NEET-UG controversy can be divided into mainly three categories:
1) Those seeking enquiry into alleged paper leak of NEET UG question papers.
2) Petitions filed against award of grace marks over delay in exam centre to more than 1500 students
3) Petitions challenging the questions in the paper where allegedly multiple options were correct for one question.
The high court took NTA's statement on record and listed the matter for further hearing on July 5 in case the NTA does not move a tranfer plea till then.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to NTA in the matter pertaining to dicrepancies in the NEET-UG results 2024. A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Ahsanuddin Amanullah issued notice to NTA and remarked that "sanctity has been affected, so we need answers."
However, the top court had said that it will not stop counseling for admissions of students to the medical colleges.
The bench has listed the matter for further hearing on July 8 after vacations. The top court also ordered for the tagging other petitions in this matter.
On May 17, the top court refused to stay results but issued notice to NTA over allegations of paper leak. This matter was then listed for July 8.
