'Modi Knows Electoral Importance Of Maharashtra': Sanjay Raut Slams PM For 'Avoiding' Manipur Visit

Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut chastised the Prime Minister for failing to visit Manipur, a state in northeastern India plagued by conflict.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's frequent visits to Maharashtra within 13 months while tying it to the state's key role in the next lok sabha elections, news agency PTI reported. While speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Raut stated: "He (PM Modi) is coming to Maharashtra again and again. It is not that he loves Maharashtra that much, or he is going to Uttar Pradesh not because he loves UP. The Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh are more, after that it is Maharashtra."

He also chastised the Prime Minister for failing to visit Manipur, a state in northeastern India plagued by conflict.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) MP alleged that PM Modi has visited Maharashtra more than eight times in the previous 13 months.

"Maharashtra will play a crucial role in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The government here is a failure. They cannot get votes for the BJP.  He came here 8-10 times in 13 months. Why does he not go to Manipur?," Sanjay Raut said.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched development projects and initiatives in Solapur, Maharashtra.

The Prime Minister dedicated over 90,000 residences constructed via PMAY-Urban in Maharashtra.

During the public function in Solapur, the Prime Minister laid the groundwork for eight AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) projects totaling around Rs 2,000 crore in Maharashtra.

AMRUT 2.0 is intended to offer universal water delivery through functioning taps to all residences in the country's statutory towns, as well as coverage for sewage management.

He also dedicated 15,000 homes to the Raynagar Housing Society in Solapur, which serves thousands of handloom workers, vendors, power loom workers, rag pickers, Bidi workers, and drivers, among others.

Furthermore, during the function, the Prime Minister will begin distributing the first and second payments to 10,000 PM-SVANIDHI recipients in Maharashtra.
