Mathura Is Ready: UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya Hints At Grand Temple Construction
'Grand temple construction is going on in Ayodhya and Kashi. Mathura is ready,' Keshav Prasad Maurya tweeted in Hindi on Wednesday.
New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya hinted that a grand temple would be constructed in Mathura similar to the ones being built in Ayodhya and Kashi.
"Grand temple construction is going on in Ayodhya and Kashi. Mathura is ready," Keshav Prasad Maurya tweeted in Hindi on Wednesday.
The remark comes days after the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha said that it would install a Lord Krishna idol at the deity's "actual birthplace", which it claimed was in a mosque in the vicinity of a prominent temple in Mathura, PTI reported.
Following the announcement, the Mathura district administration imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). “Nobody will be allowed to disturb the peace and tranquillity in Mathura,” the District Magistrate Navneet Singh Chahal had said.

Another right-wing organisation, Narayani Sena, said they would take out a march from Vishram Ghat to Shri Krishna Janmasthan to demand "removal" of the mosque. Police had said that they had detained the secretary of the Narayani Sena, Amit Mishra, at Mathura Kotwali. The outfit’s national president Manish Yadav was detained in Lucknow.

Security at both the religious places, the Katra Keshav Dev temple and Shahi Idgah, was reviewed by Chahal and Senior Superintendent of Police Guarav Grover. Hindu Mahasabha leader Rajyashri Choudhary said that an idol of the deity would be installed following a "maha jalabhishek" on December 6.
A series of petitions are being heard in the local courts that are seeking the removal of the mosque.
