Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away on December 26. All government programmes scheduled for December 27 have been cancelled and a seven-day mourning period will be declared.
Manmohan Singh Death: All government programmes scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled. A national mourning period of seven days will also be declared. The Cabinet will meet on Friday, December 27, at 11 AM to plan former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s last rites, which will be conducted with full state honours, said sources government sources.
Former PM Manmohan Singh passed away at AIIMS, Delhi, at 9:51 PM on Wednesday, December 26.

A seven-day mourning has been declared in Karnataka as well to honour Dr Manmohan Singh's contributions towards the nation.
Manmohan Singh will be most remembered for his 1991 economic reforms which averted a major economic crisis. His major contributions are reflected in the form of laws like MGNREGA, the Right To Information, the Right To Education, and the Right To Food. He believed that mere financial reforms would not help uplift the nation. This was why he brought in a policy of inclusive growth.

Manmohan Singh made his contributions felt till the last days of his stint in the Rajya Sabha. His picture of arriving at the Rajya Sabha in a wheelchair to back the Opposition and vote on the Delhi Services Bill became a symbol of upholding the principles of democracy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned the loss of his predecessor, saying that he rose from humble origins to become a respected economist. "He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years. His interventions in Parliament were also insightful. As our Prime Minister, he made extensive efforts to improve people’s lives," PM Modi said in a post on X.
