Mamata Banerjee Oath Ceremony: Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee to take oath as the chief minister of West Bengal for the third consecutive term. TMC emerged victorious in the high-stakes West Bengal Assembly Elections. The oath-taking ceremony is organized at Raj Bhavan. It will be a low-key program given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
While TMC was able to secure 213 out of 294 Assembly Seats, Mamata herself lost the battle of Nandigram which saw dramatic flip flop throughout the counting day.
Now after being sworn in as Chief Minister, according to Article 164 (4) of the Indian Constitution, she will have a period of six months to become a member of the legislature of the state. If she fails to become one at the expiration of period Mamata has to cease her Chief Minister's position.

Mamata Banerjee - WB Governor On Post Poll Violence
West Bengal Governor Jagedeep Dhankhar, right after Mamata Banerjee took oath as Chief Minister, asked her that she will uphold the constitution values and maintain the peace in the state. He was referring to the post-poll violence which ensued right after TMC's major victory in West Bengal Assembly Polls 2021.
To which Mamata Banerjee promptly replied: "The law and order situation was under the control of Election Commission of India for the last three months, I have just taken the oath and will make sure there's peace."
Mamata Banerjee To Talk About Plan Of Action At 3 PM
Right after being sworn in as Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee in a short speech announced that she will talk about the plan of action regarding the Covid-19 situation in the state. TMC chief also said, that there will be no political violence as she has stepped in as Chief Minister. "Bengal does not like violence not do I. I will personally look into the law and order issues and make sure there's peace," Mamata Banerjee said after being appointed as CM for the third term.

JP Nadda On Post Poll Violence
Right ahead of Mamata Banerjee's swearing-in ceremony, BJP National President JP Nadda lodged his protest in the backdrop of political violence that ensued after the West Bengal Assembly Polls 2021.
BJP chief JP Nadda met the family of a party worker who was allegedly killed in post-poll violence in Beliaghata, Kolkata. West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh also accompanied Nadda.
“Only those who cannot hear a mother’s screams can call such serious issues a stunt, a drama. BJP will not tolerate such bloodied politics done just for power. BJP will not tolerate the political oppression of the people of Bengal. I had said it earlier too, Mamata ji does not represent Bengali culture. Intolerance, thy name is Mamata ji,” said Nadda.
