Maharashtra: Huge Landslides In Aurangabad Amid Heavy Rainfall, Vehicles Stuck Under Debris
There has been a massive landslide in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Several vehicles have been reportedly buried under the debris.
New Delhi: Some parts of Maharashtra are witnessing incessant rainfall since the early hours of Tuesday resulting in landslides. Heavy downpour in Aurangabad has caused three landslides in the Kannada Ghat area.
According to a report by Lokmat, landslides have occurred in three places of Kannad valley which has disrupted the traffic on the nearby highway. People are facing a huge traffic jam on the Aurangabad-Dule highway since 2 am due to incessant rain. There are long queues of vehicles stuck in the traffic jam since Tuesday night.
A report in TOI suggests that some vehicles have been buried under the debris. However, no casualties have been confirmed so far. The rescue team has reached the spot and is trying to help people who have been injured due to the landslides.
The rain has lashed most parts of the state as waterlogging and flooding were witnessed by the locals.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Mumbai and its suburbs will continue to receive rain over the next 24 hours due to the presence of a low-pressure area over the western parts of Vidarbha. Moderate rain may occur at most places. Heavy to very heavy rain (less than 15 cms) may occur at isolated places. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are possible at isolated places and adjoining areas of East, Southeast, Northeast, North, Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Dadri, Meerut and Modinagar during the next 2 hours.

- Light to moderate rain along with heavy rains at isolated areas is possible over Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, parts of South and East Rajasthan, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands, parts of Andhra Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim.
- Light to moderate rain may occur over parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Northeast India, Odisha, parts of Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Lakshadweep, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
- Light rain is possible in Haryana, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and the western parts of Rajasthan.
