Kozhikode: Woman Jumps From Hotel’s First Floor To Escape Rape Attempt; 3 Accused Absconding

In the footage, the survivor was heard screaming and pleading for mercy, repeatedly saying, "Please don’t hurt me".

A 29-year-old woman sustained severe spinal and other injuries after jumping from the first floor of a hotel in Mukkam, Kozhikode district, in an attempt to escape a sexual assault by her employer and two hotel staff members. She is currently undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Government Hospital. Following the incident, all three accused fled the scene and remain at large.

A chilling video of the attempted assault has surfaced, sparking outrage across Kerala. In the footage, the survivor was reportedly heard screaming and pleading for mercy, repeatedly saying, "Please don’t hurt me", as per a report on Manorama.

The video reportedly came to light after being released by the woman’s relatives. According to the relatives, as quoted by Times of India, the victim had been playing a mobile game at the time of the incident, inadvertently recording the attack. Her family has also accused the police of inaction despite the availability of strong evidence.

However, Kozhikode district rural police chief told Deccan Herald that efforts were underway to apprehend the suspects and that crucial evidence had already been gathered.

The survivor, originally from Payyanur in Kannur, was employed as a receptionist at a newly opened hotel in Mampetta. The attack allegedly took place when the hotel’s owner, identified as Devadas, and two other staff members forcefully entered her accommodation and attempted to assault her.

The Mukkam police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigations are ongoing.

Earlier, 59 persons were arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a 18-year-old Dalit athlete in Kerala. The girl alleged that she was subjected to sexual assault ever since she was 13 years old. A 'friend' of the student allegedly recorded videos of her and used it to blackmail her for several years.
