Karnataka: Upset Over Not Being Given A Job, Mysuru Man Attacks Congress MLA Tanveer Sait With Knife; Watch Video
The report cited doctors as saying that Congress MLA Tanveer Sait had sustained “major injuries”. He is under continuous monitoring in the ICU of the hospital.
New Delhi: Congress MLA and former Karnataka Minister Tanveer Sait was attacked by a man, with a knife, at a wedding ceremony in Mysuru on November 17. The incident took place around 11:45 pm in the night when the former minister was attending a marriage ceremony at Bal Bhavan in Bannimantap. A video of the minister has surfaced on the social media, where he could be seen walking towards a vehicle with his bleeding neck. He was taken to the Columbia Hospital, where he underwent a surgery, however, continues to be critical. The report cited doctors as saying that he had sustained “major injuries”. He is under continuous monitoring in the ICU of the hospital.
The attacker has been identified as Farhaan Pasha, aged about 25 years. He has been taken into police custody. As per the report by News Minute, he attacked the MLA because he was upset by Sait as he did not arrange a job for him even after approaching several times. Soon after the incident, Farhaan tried to flee but was caught by the ex-minister’s supporters and thrashed, before he was handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, in a press note issued by the hospital, it was stated, "Mr Tanveer Sait was brought to the Emergency ward of Columbia Asia Hospital at around 11.35 pm on November 17, with a history of alleged assault. His current condition continues to be critical and he is under continuous monitoring in the ICU." "When he was admitted to the hospital, he was attended to immediately and operated upon by a multidisciplinary team of doctors. He had a grievous injury to the blood vessels, nerves and surrounding internal organs in the neck. His bleeding is now under control and he is on a ventilator and drugs to maintain his blood pressure," it added. The investigation into the incident is still underway and the attacker is being interrogated. Sait is an MLA from Mysuru's Narasimharaja assembly constituency. The 52-year-old leader has represented Narasimharaja constituency in Mysuru district in the Karnataka Assembly five times. Sait served as Primary and Secondary Education Minister in the Siddaramaiah cabinet.
