Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa Tests Corona Positive For Second Time, Hospitalised

“Upon having mild fever, today I got tested for Covid-19 and my report has come out positive. Although I am doing fine, I am being hospitalised based on the adviSe of doctors. I request all those who have come in my contact recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine,” CM Yediyurappa tweeted.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time and has been admitted to Ramaiah Memorial hospital in Bengaluru hospital.

Yediyurappa confirmed the same on Twitter and requested all those who came in contact with him recently to be “observant and exercise self-quarantine”.

“Upon having mild fever, today I got tested for Covid-19 and my report has come out positive. Although I am doing fine, I am being hospitalised based on the advise of doctors. I request all those who have come in my contact recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine,” he tweeted.

77-year-old Yediyurappa had tested positive for coronavirus earlier in August last year. He was then hospitalised but later released after a negative Covid-19 test report.

Meanwhile, there has been a surge in Covid-19 cases in Karnataka. Earlier on Thursday, the state reported 14,738 new cases while 66 people succumbed to the virus. Karnataka reported 11,265 Covid-19 cases earlier on Wednesday.

According to the state’s health department, around 11.09 lakh have tested corona positive in Karnataka while 13,112 people have so far died.
