J&K: Soldier Injured During Infiltration Bid In Poonch Succumbs In Hospital

An infiltration bid of a group of armed militants who were trying to enter into Battal forward area of the Krishnagati belt in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday was foiled by the security forces.

The soldier who was critically injured on Tuesday as the Army thwarted an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district succumbed to his injuries, sources told ABP News.

The soldier, identified as Subhash Chander, sustained injuries in a firing exchange between security forces and militants in Battal area of KG Sector Mendhar Poonch.

Earlier today, he had been shifted to a hospital for treatment after getting injured, where he passed away.

The Indian Army posted on its X handle, "General Upendra Dwivedi (Chief of the Army Staff) and All Ranks of the Indian Army salute the supreme sacrifice of braveheart L/Nk Subhash Chander, who laid down his life in the line of duty in J&K."

"Indian Army offers deepest condolences and stands firm with the bereaved family in this hour of grief," the post read.

In a post on X, the Army's White Knight Corps stated: "Alert troops foiled an infiltration bid by effectively engaging infiltrating terrorists with effective fire in the Battal sector at 0300 hours."

"During the exchange of heavy fire, one braveheart has been injured. Operations are continuing," the post stated.

A group of armed terrorists were trying to enter into Battal forward area of the Krishnagati belt. But the alert security forces deployed in the region picked up their movement and acted immediately to foil their bid.

Thereafter, an intense firefight ensued, which forced the terrorists to retreat. However, braveheart Subhash sustained injured in the fight and was hospitalised.

A search operation was launched in the area after the gun fight.

Army Foils Terror Attack On VDG's House, Army Post In Rajouri

On July 22, a soldier and a civilian sustained injuries as the Army foiled twin terror attacks on the house of Village Defence Group (VDG) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.

"Terrorists attacked the house of a VDC at Gunda, Rajouri at 0310h. A nearby Army column reacted and a firefight ensued. Operations are continuing," White Corps tweeted.

The Indian Army acted on intelligence, anticipating the threat to the VDC in a remote area in Rajouri - Reasi.

"Tactical teams swiftly intervened, ensuring no harm to the VDC member and his family. Operations are continuing and firefight is in progress," the Corps said.

The terrorists had also fired at an Army post in Rajouri district's Gundha area at 4 am on Monday, following which the troops guarding the post retaliated. This resulted in fierce exchanges between the security forces and terrorists.
