Pakistan-Made Pistol, Chinese Grenade Seized From J&K School Master Ahead Of Elections

The Indian Army on Sunday launched a joint operation with Jammu And Kashmir Police and SOG Poonch in Hari Budha and caught a "registered Over-Ground Worker (OGW)" named Qamaruddin and siezed a Pakistani Pistol and Chinese grenades allegedly a part of plan to disturb the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Poonch area.

Qamaruddin is a headmaster in school and was caught with a foreign-made pistol and grenades in his house. The consignment recovered from him is suspected to be used to disturb the upcoming election in the Poonch area.

"In a joint operation, launched by the 39 RR of 6 Sector, Romeo Force with JKP and SOG Poonch in Hari Budha, a registered Over-Ground Worker (OGW) named Qamaruddin who is the headmaster in school is caught with a foreign-made pistol and grenades in his house. The consignment recovered is suspected to be used to disturb the upcoming election in the Poonch area," the ANI reported.

The search is still in progress. Two Chinese grenades and one Pakistan-made pistol were recovered from Qamaruddin.

Jammu and Kashmir will have elections in the first five phases for the five Parliamentary seats. The first phase of polling began on April 19 in Udhampur. Phase -2 voting will be held in Jammu on April 26. Anantnag and Rajouri will go into elections on May 7. The Phase 4 elections will be held on May 13 in Srinagar. Last phase of polls will be on May 20 in Baramulla. Ladakh, with just one Parliamentary seat, will have its election in the fifth phase on May 20. The election results will be declared on  June 4.
