2 LeT Associates Held As Terror Module Busted In J-K's Baramulla. Grenades, Pistols, And More Seized

Jammu-Kashmir News: The two associates, closely linked to the LeT outfit, were involved in a nefarious cross-border smuggling operation and acting on the directives of Pakistan-based terror handlers.

In a significant breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir's police and the Army on Friday unearthed a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module operating in the region while nabbing two militant associates along with the seizure of a cache of arms and ammunition in the Baramulla district. The two associates, closely linked to the LeT outfit, were arrested in the Uri area of Baramulla, located in the northern part of Kashmir, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.

The individuals have been identified as Zaid Hassan Malla, a resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla, and Mohammad Arif Channa, hailing from Stadium Colony Baramulla.

During a thorough search, security officials confiscated two Glock pistols, two pistol magazines, two pistol silencers, five Chinese grenades, and a stockpile of 28 live pistol rounds.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspects were involved in a nefarious cross-border smuggling operation. Acting on the directives of Pakistan-based terror handlers, they were responsible for the covert trafficking of arms and ammunition. These illicit supplies were then intended for distribution among LeT terrorists, enabling them to carry out acts of terror within the region.

"It is pertinent to mention here that they were involved in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan-based terror handlers and its further distribution to LeT terrorists for carrying out terror activities," the spokesperson said.

A case has been filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act.

"Based on intelligence inputs an MVCP was established on 14 Sep 2023 by #IndianArmy and @JmuKmrPolice in Uri, #Baramulla. Two suspected individuals were apprehended. 02xPistols, 05xHand Grenades & other war-like stores recovered. Investigation in progress," a post by Chinar Corps, Indian Army stated.
