1 Terrorist Killed In J&K's Uri As Security Forces Foil Infiltration Bid Along LoC

A terrorist was killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector along the Line of Control as security forces foiled an infiltration bid.

One terrorist was killed as the security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector, said the Indian Army on Wednesday. The terrorists were trying to illegally cross into Indian territory taking advantage of poor visibility and bad weather, the Army said further. 

In a statement, the Indian Army said: "Infiltration bid foiled by the troops in Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC), one terrorist killed, operation in progress. The terrorists were trying to infiltrate taking advantage of poor visibility and bad weather."  

"Security forces successfully #thwarted an #infiltration attempt in the #URI sector along the #LOC," said the Kashmir Zone Police in a post on X. 

Last week on Thursday, a militant from The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. 

The security forces had begun by a cordon and search operation in the Kathohalan area of South Kashmir after receiving information about the presence of militants, reported PTI. 

During the operation, the militants opened fire on the security personnel which prompted them to retaliate.

In October, two terrorists were gunned down by security forces in which prompted them to retaliate. This led to an encounter in which one militant has been confirmed deceased so far. 

The encounter took place based on specific information by the Kupwara Police and further operations are underway, said the Kashmir Zone Police. 

In October this year, the security forces had foiled another infiltration bid in the area killing two terrorists along the LoC.
