Jammu and Kashmir: Non-Local Killed By Terrorists In Shopian
The security forces reached the spot and the victim's body was taken to a hospital for medico-legal formalities
A non-local was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Thursday. The bullet-riddled body of the man was recovered from the Wachi area of Zainapora in the south Kashmir district, officials said.
They said the body, apparently of a non-local, bore bullet injuries.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the incident was confirmed as a terrorist attack by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian.
The security forces reached the spot and the victim's body was taken to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Authorities have launched a probe to identify the victim. Further details are awaited.
This incident comes just days after Omar Abdullah took oath as the first chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, marking the return of an elected government in the Union Territory after six years of President's rule.
Earlier this month, an Indian Army soldier was kidnapped by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. He was later found dead, with bullet injuries on his body. As per reports, two soldiers of 161 unit of the Territorial Army, who were part of a joint anti-terror operation that was launched on October 8 by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, were kidnapped from the forest area in Anantnag. But, one of them managed to escape despite suffering two bullet injuries.
