Indore: Rats Nibble Newborn's Feet At Govt Hospital; Probe Ordered
This came to light when the mother of the infant went to feed him milk and was traumatized to see blood oozing from one of the toes of the child.
Indore: In an appalling case of medical slackness, a family has alleged that rats nibbled their newborn child’s feet in the nursery care unit of Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore city.
This came to light when the mother of the infant went to feed him milk and was traumatized to see blood oozing from one of the toes of the child.
“At 3 a.m., my wife went to feed the child and got to know that (rats nibbled the child’s feet). My baby doesn’t have his foot toe,” ANI quoted the aggrieved father of the newborn child as saying.

The doctors, however, stepped into damage control mode and ordered a probe into the untoward incident after the family members of the newborn protested over the callous approach.
“The baby’s treatment has begun and a committee has been formed to probe the matter,” said Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital Superintendent Dr Pramendra Thakur.
He, however, refused to divulge further details with regard to the incident.
