The Indian Consulate in Vancouver has confirmed the tragic death of Tanya Tyagi, an Indian student studying at the University of Calgary, Canada. The news of her sudden passing was announced on Thursday through an official statement shared on the social media platform X. 

"We are saddened by the sudden demise of Ms. Tanya Tyagi, an Indian student at the University of Calgary," the Consulate wrote.

Recently, two indian students were killed in Canada. In April this year, 21-year-old Harsimrat Randhawa was fatally struck by a stray bullet at a bus stop during crossfire between two vehicles in Hamilton, Ontario. Randhawa was studying at Mohawk College. 

Police recovered two involved vehicles, a Hyundai and a Mercedes, and launched a homicide investigation. The Consulate in Toronto confirmed that the victim was an innocent bystander and is in close contact with her family.

The same month, Vanshika Saini, from Mohali, was found dead on a beach in Ottawa after her body had been missing for several days. The 21-year-old student's family in Punjab suspected foul play and has demanded a detailed investigation as the Indian High Commission followed up with local authorities.

These tragic incidents come amid growing concerns over the safety of Indian students and professionals in Canada. In the past four months, four Indians have lost their lives in violent incidents across Canada.
