India Reports Nearly 4000 Covid Deaths As Maharashtra Reconciles Fatality Data, 70K New Cases

India has been reporting less than 1 lakh cases for a week now and Covid cases registered on Monday are on a 72 day low. Maharashtra has also been reconciling fatality data since May 21, and has reconciled well over 15,988 deaths in the last 23 days. On Sunday an additional 2,288 deaths were reconciled.

Covid In India:  India reports 70,421 new COVID19 cases (lowest in last 72 days), 1,19,501 patient discharges & 3921 deaths in last 24 hrs, as per Health Ministry.

Total cases: 2,95,10,410 Total discharges: 2,81,62,947

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) informed that 37,96,24,626 samples were tested for COVID 19, up to June 13, 2021. Of these, 14,92,152 samples were tested yesterday.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra reported 10,442 cases of coronavirus diseases (Covid-19) on Sunday taking the state-wide tally of cases to 59,08,992. The state also reported 483 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,11,104. The total number of recoveries reached 56,39,271, after 7,504 people recovered from the infection.

Maharashtra has also been reconciling fatality data since May 21, and has reconciled well over 15,988 deaths in the last 23 days. On Sunday an additional 2,288 deaths were reconciled. As per the state health department data, in the last three days, the state has added 1522, 2,213 and 1,606 deaths respectively through the reconciliation exercise.

The capital city of Mumbai reported 695 cases, pushing the city-wide cumulative to 7,15,660. The death toll reached 15,183 after 19 fatalities were reported.

 For the fourth time in a week, Maharashtra's Covid-19 death toll climbed to a new peak, while the total cases crossed the 59 lakh mark though fresh infections dropped, health officials said on Sunday.

Compared with 1,966 deaths declared on Saturday, the state now revealed the highest-ever fatalities, at 2,771 (comprising 483 new and 2,288 earlier deaths), taking the toll to 111,104.

Karnataka

New Covid cases declined to 7,810, while 18,648 patients were discharged and 125 succumbed to the infection in a day across Karnataka, said the state health bulletin on Sunday.

"With 7,810 new cases registered on Saturday, the state's Covid tally rose to 27,65,134, including 1,80,835 active cases, while 25,51,365 recovered, with 18,648 patients discharged during the day," said the bulletin.

As epicentre of the pandemic in the state, Bengaluru reported only 1,348 new cases, taking its Covid tally to 11,96,688, including 85,995 active cases, while recoveries increased to 10,95,385, with 4,125 patients discharged in the last 24 hours.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh has logged 6,770 new Covid cases and 58 deaths during the 24 hour period ending 9 a.m. on Sunday.

A total of 1,02,876 samples were tested during the period and of them, 6,770 were found positive. With this, the cumulative number of cases jumped to 18,09,844.

The fresh fatalities pushed the cumulative death toll to 11,940. According to the daily media bulletin issued by the state command control room, Chittoor district accounted for 12 deaths during the 24-hour period.
