Total COVID-19 Cases In India Near 4 Lakh Mark With Record Spike Of 14k New Cases In Past 24 Hours
India recorded one of the biggest surges in coronavirus cases on Saturday with 14,516 positive cases in the last 24 hours. The total has reached 3,95,048 lakhs according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data.
New Delhi: India recorded one of the biggest surges in coronavirus cases on Saturday with 14,516 positive cases in the last 24 hours taking the total to 3,95,048 lakhs according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data. The number of active cases in the country is 1,68,269. So far, the total number of COVID-19 deaths is 12,948.

India’s recovery rate remains high and surpasses that of the number of active cases. Data shows that the total number of people recovered is 2,13,830. On Thursday, the government announced that the recovery rate has further improved to 52.95 percent and said that the recoveries/deaths ratio stands at 94.07:5.93 percent.
Maharashtra is still leading as the worst affected state with a total of 1,24,331 cases out of which 5,56,65 are active cases. There has been a total of 5,893 fatalities.
Tamil Nadu which stands in the second position saw a surge of 2,115 cases taking the total to 54,449. Cases. There are 23,512 active cases and 666 fatalities. Delhi as the third severely affected state has reached the 50k mark and according to data has recorded a total of 53,116 cases. There are 27512 active cases and 2035 deaths in the capital city. On Friday, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal made 5 days institutional quarantine mandatory for those who test positive for coronavirus in the state.

Gujarat remained the fourth worst affected state in the country with a total of 26,141 and 6364 active cases. the state has recorded 1618 deaths so far.
Other states with more than 10,000 cases include Uttar Pradesh (15,785), Rajasthan (14,156), Madhya Pradesh (11582) and West Bengal (13090).
Globally, India is still the fourth-worst affected country in the world and stands after Russia with 5,68,292 total cases.
