Sharing India’s response to the incident, Spox Arindam Bagchi said: “It was conveyed that this reprehensible incident has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community in India and worldwide. Such continued incidents of desecration and disrespect of places of religious worship of the minority communities in Pakistan highlight the lack of respect for the faith of these communities”.

“It was further conveyed that we expect Pakistani authorities to sincerely investigate this matter and take action against those involved,” the spokesperson said, as quoted in an official statement shared by MEA.

Sauleha, a Pakistani model, has received a lot of flak on social media after her pictures posing without a headcover inside the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara went viral.

Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Manjinder Singh Sirsa criticised the model as he tweeted: “Such behaviour & act at pious place of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is totally unacceptable! Can she dare to do the same at her religious place in Pakistan? @ImranKhanPTI @GovtofPakistan shd tk immed action to stop this trend of treating Sri Kartarpur Sahib as picnic spot by Pak people.”

Following the backlash, Sauleha issued a clarification through an Instagram post and apologised for hurting religious sentiments.

“I just went to kartarpur to learn about the history and know about the sikh community. It wasnt done to hurt anyone sentiments or anything for that matter. However, if i have hurt anyone or they think that I dont respect there culture/religion. I am Sorry,” she wrote.
