In a fresh video, Naseeruddin Shah says "A wall of hatred being built in the name of religion"
In a 2.13 minute long video recorded for Amnesty, an organisation which is known to work for Human Rights; Shah said that people who have demanded Human Rights are being put in jail.
New Delhi: Days after drawing for his “unsafe” remark, actor Naseeruddin Shah has once again made headlines. The actor has expressed several things about the condition of the country in front a human rights organization and spoke about the violence that is taking place in the name of religion and violation of freedom of expression taking place in the country.
Speaking to Amnesty International, Shah can be seen in a video saying “a wall of hatred is being constructed in India, in the name of religion and people who raise their voice against the same are being punished”.
In a 2.13 minute long video recorded for Amnesty, an organisation which is known to work for Human Rights; Shah said that people who have demanded Human Rights are being put in jail.
In the video message he said “Artists, celebrities, researchers and poets, everyone is being suppressed. Even journalists are being asked to keep quiet”. He has claimed “a wall of hatred is being constructed in the name of religion, innocents are being killed and the country is filled with dangerous hatred”.
He said “People who speak against the lie, their offices are being raided, their licenses are cancelled and bank accounts are frozen, so that they are not able to speak the truth.”
In the video, where he can be heard speaking in Urdu, he said “where is our country heading. Did we dream of a nation where there is no place for intolerance? Where only rich and influential are heard and the voice of the poor is suppressed?”In 2018, India witnessed a massive crackdown on freedom of expression and human rights defenders.
