'If Both Communities Had Arms, Then...': Gurugram MP Inderjit Singh Briefs PM Modi On Nuh Violence

The Grurugram MP met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and briefed him about the situation in Haryana.

New Delhi: Days after violence in Haryana's Nuh district, Union Minister and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh on Wednesday said that it was a matter of inquiry as to how people from both communities got arms and why they created such an atmosphere.

Speaking to ANI, Singh said, "If both the communities had arms with them, then it is a matter of inquiry as to how they got those arms and why they created such an atmosphere. The Haryana government will conduct an inquiry."

The Grurugram MP met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and briefed him about the situation in Haryana. However, when he was asked about his meeting with PM Modi, Singh claimed that he met the PM to invite him for the inauguration of AIIMS in Haryana.

At least six people have died and over 60 injured in the communal violence in Haryana's Nuh district that broke out on Monday evening after a mob attacked a VHP procession following rumours that cow vigilante Monu Manesar would be participating in the march.

The violence has spread to neighbouring Gurugram, an hour away from Delhi. Delhi Police has strengthened security at sensitive places amid concerns of a spillover in the national capital.

The VHP held agitations in parts of Delhi in protest against the Nuh communal clashes.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, in a video message, appealed for peace and said 116 people have been arrested in connection with the violence.

While no new incident was reported from Nuh, the epicentre of the violence, on Wednesday, 14 companies of paramilitary forces have been stationed. In total, 30 companies of Haryana Police and 20 companies of Central paramilitary forces have been deployed in the state.
