‘Idea Is To Create More Hatred Towards Muslim Community’: Owaisi On Gyanvapi Masjid & Krishna Janmabhoomi Issues

“It’s high time that the PM puts an end to all this and says that his government stands with the 1991 Act and will not support such causes that create more division in the country,” he said.

New Delhi: Speaking on the Gyanvapi Masjid and Krishna Janmabhoomi issues, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said the idea was to create an atmosphere of mistrust and more hatred towards the Muslim community. “Whether it is Gyanvapi or Mathura, the idea is to create an atmosphere of mistrust, more hatred towards Muslim community, lack of security among our Hindu brothers and to take this country back in time,” said Owaisi, ANI reported.

“It’s high time that the PM puts an end to all this and says that his government stands with the 1991 Act and will not support such causes that create more division in the country,” he said.

Stating that a plea has been filed in the Mathura court to remove Shahi Idgah Masjid, Owaisi said this is a violation of Places of Worship Act, 1991.

“The Mathura District Court saying the suit is maintainable is a violation of SC verdict and against the Parliament Act,” he added

Asserting the “law doesn’t matter” for these people, the AIMIM chief said they want to “rob Muslim people of their dignity”.

“You are making a mockery of legal system. When another plaintiff went to the court, the court had said no, so you create a different party. These are all connected to Sangh Parivar,” added Owaisi.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court asked the trial court in Varanasi not to proceed with the Gyanvapi Mosque case till Friday, May 20, as it deferred the matter for hearing at 3 p.m. on Friday.

The apex made the observation after being informed that counsel for Hindu devotees is indisposed.

The apex court bench, which earlier in the day resumed hearing a plea of the Committee of Management Anjuman Intezamia Masjid which manages Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, had in the prior hearing earlier on Tuesday issued notices to the Hindu petitioners while refusing to stay the ongoing proceedings before the lower court.

Meanwhile, the Mathura district court allowed the plea seeking removal of mosque in the Krishna Janmabhoomi case.

The plea was originally filed in the lower court -- the court of civil judge senior division -- on September 25, 2020 by Lucknow-resident Ranjana Agnihotri and six others as the “next friend of Bhagwan Sri Krishna Virajman”, PTI reported.

Demanding that the mosque be removed and the land returned to the trust, they had claimed in the plea that Shahi Idgah Masjid is constructed on a part of 13.37 acre land belonging to the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust.
