IAS Officer In Dock Over Tweets On ‘The Kashmir Files’, MP Govt To Issue Showcause Notice

“I feel he is crossing a line. He is violating the service conduct rules that are binding on officers. The government will issue a showcause notice and seek his reply,” he told the media in Bhopal.

New Delhi: The Madhya Pradesh government on Wednesday said a showcause notice would be served to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Niyaz Khan seeking his response with regard to the controversial tweets on the Bollywood movie ‘The Kashmir Files’.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said the IAS officer is “crossing a line” with his tweets.

“I feel he is crossing a line. He is violating the service conduct rules that are binding on officers. The government will issue a showcause notice and seek his reply,” he told the media in Bhopal.

Mishra’s remarks come as the IAS officer, who is a deputy secretary with the Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD), posted a series of tweets about ‘The Kashmir Files’ earlier last week.

Expressing his views on the film, he suggested that a movie must be made on the suffering of Muslims as well.

“Kashmir File shows the pain of Brahmins. They should be allowed to live safely in Kashmir with all honour. The producer must also make a movie to show the killings of large number of Muslims across several states. Muslims are not insects but human beings and citizens of country,” the IAS officer tweeted earlier on March 18.

Khan said he is planning to write a book highlighting the “massacre of Muslims”.

“Thinking to write a book to show the massacre of Muslims on different occasions so that a movie like The Kashmir Files could be produced by some producer, so that, the pain and suffering of minorities could be brought before Indians,” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
