I.N.D.I.A Meeting On Nitish Kumar's Role Postponed, Decision On Convenor On Hold Too

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav mentioned that the timing for the meeting has not been confirmed yet.

New Delhi: The scheduled meeting of leaders from the opposition I.N.D.IA. bloc regarding Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's role in the alliance has been deferred. This meeting, originally set for Wednesday (January 3rd), was anticipated to decide on the role of coordinator within I.N.D.I.A bloc, with Nitish Kumar expected to assume this responsibility.

However, the meeting has now been rescheduled for a later date. Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav mentioned that the timing for the meeting has not been confirmed yet.

At the same time, the BJP has directed criticism towards the opposition alliance and Nitish Kumar on this matter.

Mocking the postponement of the meeting, the BJP stated that the meeting was not deferred but rather avoided. BJP leader Sanjay Mayukh remarked that the leaders of the India alliance are showing Nitish Kumar an illusion.

He claimed that nobody wants Nitish Kumar, and his popularity in Bihar has come to an end.

With little time left for the Lok Sabha polls, the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc parties last met on December 19, 2023, and decided to finalise seat-sharing as soon as possible.

At the meeting, some leaders also proposed Mallikarjun Kharge's name as the prime ministerial face of the coalition, but the Congress chief said it is important to win first and the leadership issue can then be decided "democratically".

Tejashwi On Nitish Kumar's Appointment As I.N.D.I.A Bloc's Convenor

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was an experienced leader and it would be great if a proposal came to make him the convenor of the INDIA coalition, his deputy Tejashwi Yadav said on Wednesday.

"Nitish Kumar is such a senior leader. If such a proposal comes, it will be great for Bihar," Yadav told reporters at the Gaya airport when his comments were sought on the speculations that the JD(U) president could be made the convenor of the opposition coalition.

Yadav, who belongs to the RJD, also exuded confidence that the seemingly thorny issue of seat-sharing will be sorted out "without any problem".
