'Hindi Brought Special Honour,' Says PM Modi On Hindi Diwas 2022. Amit Shah Calls It 'Thread Of Unity'

PM Modi said the Hindi language has beautifully incorporated simplicity, spontaneity and elegance.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended wishes to the nation on the occasion of Hindi Diwas on Wednesday saying the language has brought "special honour" to India. Greeting the nation, Prime Minister Modi tweeted in Hindi said its simplicity, spontaneity and sensitivity attract the masses. He also thanked those who have contributed "tirelessly" to make the Hindi language prosperous.

हिन्दी ने विश्वभर में भारत को एक विशिष्ट सम्मान दिलाया है। इसकी सरलता, सहजता और संवेदनशीलता हमेशा आकर्षित करती है। हिन्दी दिवस पर मैं उन सभी लोगों का हृदय से अभिनंदन करता हूं, जिन्होंने इसे समृद्ध और सशक्त बनाने में अपना अथक योगदान दिया है।

Union home minister Amit Shah emphasised the importance of Hindi and said the Hindi language is a friend of all Indian regional languages and it unites the whole nation.

“Modi’s government is committed to the parallel development of all local languages including Hindi,” Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted in Hindi.

हिंदी सभी भारतीय भाषाओं की सखी है। मोदी सरकार हिंदी सहित सभी स्थानीय भाषाओं के समानांतर विकास हेतु प्रतिबद्ध है।

In a video message, the home minister urged people to take a pledge to adopt Hindi and regional languages in their daily lives including in the workplace.

 

"There are almost 22 languages in India. All languages in the country have their own significance and history. Hindi has been able to achieve its own status keeping in sync with all other regional languages. The language has established a special place in the hearts of people. All other languages have also developed along with the Raj Bhasha," the home minister said in his speech.

The minister also mentioned the reasons behind adopting Hindi as the official language.

"All our freedom fighters used Hindi as a language to connect people to achieve Swaraj for India. Looking at the role played by the language in unifying the nation, Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Constitution," the minister noted.

"Hindi has been adopted in all ministerial and documentation work. Raj Bhasha units have been established to promote the Hindi language in several regions across the country and foreign countries including Fiji, Dubai and other countries," he said.

Hindi is the fourth most spoken language in the world with over 65 crore speakers worldwide. Hindi Diwas is celebrated to mark the adoption of Hindi as the country’s official language by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.
