Govt to issue unique Rs 75 coin in memory of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose; Check details
In order to mark the 75 anniversary of hoisting of the national flag for the first time by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Central government said that it will release a unique Rs 75 commemorative coin.
New Delhi: In order to mark the 75 anniversary of hoisting of the national flag for the first time by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the Central government said that it will release a unique Rs 75 commemorative coin. The notification for the same was issued by the Finance Ministry of India on Tuesday. “The coin of seventy-five rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the central government on the occasion of '75th Anniversary of Hoisting of Tricolour' for the first time by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Port Blair,” said the FinMin notification. The special coin weighing 35 grams will be composed of 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper and 5 per cent each of nickel and zinc.
According to a report by news agency PTI, the coin will bear the portrait of 'Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose' saluting the flag on the background of cellular jail. A numeral 75th along with inscription anniversary will be depicted below the portrait. The coin will have inscription in both English and Devanagari script saying ‘First Flag Hosting Day’.
It was on December 30, 1943, when the iconic freedom fighter hoisted the Tricolour for the first time at Cellular Jail in Port Blair. Bose was also the one who founded the Indian National Army (INA).
On October 21, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hoisted the National Flag at Red Fort and unveiled the plaque to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the formation of Azad Hind Government, formed by Bose. Union Minister Mahesh Sharma and INA veteran RS Chhikara among others were also present at the event.
Speaking at the event, PM Modi said, “Netaji had promised an India where everyone has equal rights&equal opportunities. He had promised a prosperous nation which was proud of its traditions, development in all areas. He had promised to uproot 'divide & rule'. Even after so many yrs those dreams remain unfulfilled.”
