Mysterious Blast At Restaurant In Goa's Mapusa, No Casualty Reported

A blast occured in a bar and restaurant on the ground floor of a two-story building in Dangui Colony of Goa’s Mapusa.

New Delhi: A blast occured in a bar and restaurant on the ground floor of a two-story building in Dangui Colony of Goa’s Mapusa, as reported by the news agency ANI.

The explosion caused damage to property, no one was injured in the incident.

The explosion took place in the eatery situated in a residential complex in Dangui Colony, some 9 km from Panaji, in the early hours of Sunday, though no one was injured in the incident, news agency PTI reported citing a police official.

"Initial reports suggest it was caused by a cylinder. There were no injuries as there no one on the premises at the time of incident. Teams of forensic experts and bomb detection and disposal squads have sanitised the place. CCTV footage is being checked," the official said, as quoted by PTI.

A probe was underway and more details will be had when it is complete, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi said on Monday. Goa Chief Minister reacted to the incident and said that this was a small incident and no injuries have been reported so far. "This was a small incident and no injuries were reported. State Disaster Management Authority is assessing the situation and action is being taken against those responsible," Goa CM Pramod Sawant was quoted by ANI as saying.

Speaking to ANI, DGP Goa Jaspal Singh said that the gas leak from the pipe led to the cylinder blast and no one was injured in the incident. "We have received the report on the blast at a restaurant and bar in Mapusa city. As per the report, gas leakage from the pipe led to a cylinder blast. In this incident, no one suffered any injury," DGP Goa Jaspal Singh told ANI.
