Former Indian Cricketer Joginder Sharma Among 68 Haryana Police Officers Transferred With Immediate Effect

As per the statement released, Sharma has been transferred from Hisar and posted as the Pehowa DSP in Kurukshetra district, it said.

New Delhi: In what comes as a major reshuffling within the ranks and file of Haryana Police, sixty-eight service officers, most of them who held the rank of a deputy superintendents of police, were issued transfer and posting orders on Monday with immediate effect, a statement said. The one name which was part of this extensive transferring exercise and got instantly noticed was that of former Indian cricketer Joginder Sharma. Sharma who is serving with Haryana police was presently posted as the Hisar DSP, the release said. As per the statement released, Sharma has been transferred from Hisar and posted as the Pehowa DSP in Kurukshetra district, it said. Incidentally, former Indian hockey team captain Sandeep Singh, who is the state sports minister, represents the Pehowa assembly constituency. Among the other police officers, Gurgaon Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mukesh Jakhar has been transferred to Kalka in Panchkula district, the release said. Joginder Sharma was part of India's World Cup winning team , which under the captaincy of MS Dhoni lifted the 2007 ICC World T20 title beating arch rivals Pakistan in the finals. The Haryana seamer is best remembered for bowling the final over of that pulsating final where he held his nerves to dismiss well set Misbah Ul Haq after being tonked for a six in the same over.
