Pulwama: Forces blow up house in which top LeT commander Abu Dujana, his accomplice Arif were hiding during encounter

Gun battle broke out in Hakripora village of Kakapora in Pulwama at around 4:30am on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Lashkar-e-Toiba's (LeT) top commander 26-year-old Abu Dujana was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday morning. Another terrorist who was killed along with Dujana was identified as Arif Lalihaari. The encounter had broken out early morning at Hakripora village of Kakapora in Pulwama district. On receiving intelligence inputs, the area had been cordoned off and search operation was launched. Dujana and Lilhaari then opened fired during the operation which prompted retaliation from the security forces. The house in flames after being blown up by security forces. At least six other persons were injured in security forces' action against violent protestors near the encounter site. The official said that over 100 "miscreants" started pelting stones at security forces involved in the anti- militancy operation in Hakripora area of Pulwama. He said the security forces used tear smoke shells, pellets and fired few live rounds to disperse the stone- pelting protestors. As the security forces were retreating from the encounter site, some youth started pelting stones at them near district hospital Pulwama. The security forces responded by opening fire, resulting in injuries to two persons including a nurse working inside the hospital, the official said. He said two other persons were brought to the hospital in an injured condition but it was not clear where they suffered the injuries. Reports of protests have been received from several parts of south Kashmir and from some parts of the city as well. Mobile Internet services were suspended across Kashmir as a precautionary measure in the wake of clashes. (With PTI inputs)
