Farmer Leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni Likely To Float Political Party Tomorrow

The farmer leader has also said that his new political party will contest the Punjab Assembly Elections scheduled to be held in early 2022.

New Delhi: After successful completion of the year-long farmers' protest against the Centre over rollback of three contentious agri-law, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni is all set to float his new political party months ahead of crucial Punjab Assembly Polls.

With this, Chadhuni will become the first farmer leader to launch a political party. According to reports, Chadhuni is most likely to announce his new party on December 18 (Saturday) in Chandigarh.

The farmer leader has also said that his new political party will contest the Punjab Assembly Elections scheduled to be held in early 2022.

Chaduni had made it clear that he would continue his mission in Punjab even after the end of the farmers' protest. A press conference has been called by him in Chandigarh tomorrow where he is most likely to announce his new political party.

For the last several months, Chaduni has been raising his voice on various issues other than farming in Punjab. On various occasions, he has said that merely protesting to bring about a political change will not work. With this belief, he will be seen trying his luck in the Punjab Assembly elections.

Not much information has been revealed about who will be the face of Chadhuni's party. He is also less likely to contest the Punjab Assembly elections as he hails from Haryana and does not have a 6-month old permanent address in Punjab which is necessary for a candidate to contest elections in a particular state.

Even in the past, Chaduni has been associated with political parties. He had submitted a ticket claim from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. However, due to a lawsuit, the party gave the ticket to his wife instead.
